Branson SFX150 Sonifier®
Overview. Designed for low-volume applications, the SFX150 Sonifier® delivers up to 150 watts of power at 40 kHz for quiet operation. It’s the only cell disruptor and homogenizer of its type that includes a handheld converter designed for ergonomic comfort and easy control to simplify and speed your experiment. The recessed pushbutton helps prevent unintended activation, while the LED indicator light lets you know when it’s energized. A conventional converter and stand can also be used, and the SFX150 includes all the same control and monitoring functions as the SFX250 and SFX550. Features

Branson SFX250 Sonifier®
Overview. This versatile Sonifier® is perfect for all but the highest-volume applications, providing up to 250 watts of output power at 20 kHz. Like all Sonifiers in the SFX Series, the SFX250 offers the industry’s simplest user interface and the most precise control over all the critical parameters of your experiment. Features

Branson SFX550 Sonifier®
Overview. Our most powerful Sonifier®, the SFX550 easily handles high-volume applications with up to 550 watts of output power at 20 kHz. The SFX550 can process larger, viscous samples, but also provides precise control over energy output and other parameters to accommodate experiments of all sizes. All SFX Series Sonifiers provide exclusive Branson features including advanced energy mode and true temperature control. Features

Sonifier Accessories |
SFX150 Microtips SFX150 Microtips are available in sizes ranging from 3/32” to 1/8” diameter for processing of small samples in Eppendorf vials. |
SFX150 Cup Horn SFX150 3” Cup horn is ideal as an indirect method of sonification, without the horn coming into direct contact with the sample. |
Microtips
These smaller, high-intensity tips are ideal for processing smaller samples in Eppendorf vials or similar vessels. Sizes range from 1/8″ to 1/4″ |
Cup Horn
These specialized horns permit high-intensity sound to be applied to multiple samples without direct horn contact. Units are available in 2.0″ and 3.0″diameters. |
Disruptor Horns
These basic tools are designed to be used with both analog and digital units for a wide variety of general applications. They are available in standard sizes ranging from 3/8″ to 1.0″. |
High-Intensity Cup Horn
For use with SFX550 and 450 units only. This 1.0″ horn is similar to a standard cup horn but uses a parabolic reflector to amplify the sound intensity while producing maximum sound density within the sample. |
Flow-Thru Horn
These horns offer the ability to pass a process liquid through an intense energy field within the horn itself. Dual-ported horns permit the emulsification of two dissimiliar liquids in controlled, continuous proportions. |
Continuous Flow Attachment
This temperature-controlled chamber permits continuous processing of a flowing liquid through a high-intensity ultrasonic field. |
Sealed-Atmosphere Treatment Chamber
These specialty horns have been developed to handle noxious or hazardous samples while isolating them from incidental contact or to contain reactants for metric evaluation. |
Acoustic Enclosure
Operating the Sonifier® in this soundproof enclosure can minimize mechanical noise produced by ultrasonic processing. The sturdy cabinet is lined with waterproof, sound-absorbing material, which is impervious to most solutions or laboratory reagents and can be easily cleaned. A fully transparent door enables viewing of the process while limiting the noise to an acceptable level. |
Support Stand
The support stand with rod and converter holder accommodates a 20kHz or 40kHz converter. Clamp supports the converter and is easily adjustable to properly position the horn in the sample. |
Temperature Probe
True temperature control, automatically adjusts the ultrasonic pulse length to maintain a temperature within a set range. The temperature probe monitors the temperature of sensitive samples. |
Rosette Cell
The Rosette cooling cell allows for processing of samples at low temperature. The unique design of the vessel facilitates both mixing and cooling of the sample simultaneously. |
Sonifier Applications |
Cell Disruption & Lysis Efficiently break down cell membranes with the precise energy levels required for your sample, without overheating. |
Dispersal of Nanoparticles Deliver the energy needed to overcome strong adhesive forces and evenly disperse nanoparticles into liquid carriers for a variety of applications. |
ChIP Assay & Processing of DNA/Proteins Release DNA and proteins from cells and apply the energy needed to shear them into fragments for purification and analysis. |
Emulsification & Homogenization Use the most efficient method to quickly and reliably create perfectly uniform preparations without risk of overheating. |
Acceleration of Reactions Use ultrasonics to accelerate chemical reactions through a variety of processes, including microcleaning of catalyst surfaces and acoustic cavitation that adds energy to the reaction. |
Leaching & Extraction Use the shear and cavitation forces of ultrasonics to improve the speed and efficiency of catalytic extraction while reducing solvent use. |
Fine Mixing Create homogenous mixes without the complexity and inconsistent results of a mechanical system. |
Degassing Remove dissolved gases through acoustic cavitation that draws the gases into vacuum bubbles, allowing them to float to the top of the liquid for easy removal. |
